Projects
1. What is the project title used for?
It is important to name your projects as that name will be used to name the folder where your project is stored, as well as to help you locate the project for modification.
2. Where are my project files?
The "projects path" is listed in the configuration interface. From the menu, select <Utility><Configuration> and go to the <General> page. The project directory is listed there. You may use "Windows Explorer" or "My Computer" to open that folder and view all the project folders.
3. What is the difference between archive and export?
Archiving is used primarily to free up disk space on your machine. It allows you to conveniently move projects off your hard disk to a CD/DVD or network location and retrieve them later. Exporting is used to package up the output from a project (a presentation and all the associated files) and move them to a different machine. It takes care of copying, system qualification, and file association tasks which would otherwise be tedious and time consuming.

Video
1. What is the output format of the movies I generate?
Movies generated in Medical Video Producer are in an MPEG-2 format. The video is not compressed or decompressed during the process, so quality is not compromised.

Still Images
1. I grabbed a picture using the camera button, but the actual picture came from a different time in the movie. Why?
MVP allows you configure the quality/accuracy when grabbing a still image. From the menu select <Utility> then select <Configuration> and go to the Image tab. If you select "Quality", you will get the highest quality picture, within 1/4 second of the frame you selected. If you select "Accuracy", you will get the actual frame you selected, but it may have a lower clarity. If you select "Best Choice" MVP will select the image that has the best combination of clarity and accuracy.
2. Can I import pictures captured during a procedure into an MVP project?
You may import pictures from a (DVR-MD) Procedure Disc. From the MVP menu bar, select <Utility> then select <Configuration> and go to the Image tab. Here, you can check the box for Import Pictures with Procedures. When a procedure is imported, the pictures will be sent automatically to the Output Panel.

PowerPoint
1. How can I use a different template in my PowerPoint presentations?
MVP allows you to change the template used to create your PowerPoint presentations, by allowing you to store multiple templates in the MVP PowerPoint folder. The process to do this is detailed below.
- Open PowerPoint and create a new blank presentation.
- PowerPoint places a single slide containing a few default text objects on the new presentation. Select and delete each default object that is placed on the slide.
- Position the cursor over the slide. Right-Click and select Background.
- Here you can use the background effects provided, or add a picture as your background. To add a picture, open the drop-down list box under "Background Fill" and select Fill Effects.
- Select the Picture tab.
- Click Select Picture and browse to the picture you would like to use as a background (any bitmap or jpeg file will work). Click OK to close this window.
- In the Background dialog box, click the Apply to all button.
- From the PowerPoint File menu select Save As.
- Enter a name for your template in the File Name field.
- From the Save as type drop-down list box select Design Template (*.pot).
- Close PowerPoint.
- Open My Computer from your desktop or Start Menu.
- Navigate to the C:\Documents and Settings\XXXXX\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates folder. (XXXX is your windows log-in name.)
- Right-click the template file and select Copy.
- Navigate to the MVP PPT folder (typically C:\Program Files\ImageStreamMedical\MedicalVideoProducer\Ppt).
- From the Edit Menu select Paste.
- Open Medical Video Producer.
- From the Utility menu select Configuration.
- Select the PowerPoint tab.
- The template you just created should be in the list. Double-click the template to select it for use.
2. Can I insert external pictures into my PPT presentation?
Yes, after creating a PowerPoint presentation, a picture may be inserted into the presentation. In PowerPoint, open the slide where you want to place the picture, then go to the PowerPoint menu and select <Insert><Picture><From File>.
3. How do I add another video file to my PowerPoint presentation?
You may add additional video files directly to PowerPoint if you like. In fact, you may add any file type supported by Windows Media Player 9 (AVI, WMF, etc) to the presentation by following this procedure:
- In the PowerPoint menu, select <Insert><Object>, and select Windows Media Player. Click OK.
- Right-click over the Windows Media Player Object that you just inserted and choose Properties.
- Click the button to the right of the Custom field in the Properties box. In the URL field, browse to the video file you would like to Insert.
- Click OK to close this Window.
- Save the presentation.
If you opt to export the project files from MVP using the MVP export function, it will properly export the movie you just added.
4. When using my laptop to present, video will only play on my laptop display, not the projector. How can I change that?
Most laptops cannot display video on two monitors at one time. Video can only be played on the primary display. To change the primary display, most laptops provide a function (fn) key to quickly switch from one display to another. This key is often the F8 key, and is labeled CRT/LCD. To change, hold down the function (fn) key and press the CRT/LCD key.

Exporting Projects
1. I installed the InstantRead UDF reader on my Windows XP system and now my CD writer does not work. Why?
In some situations, the VOB InstantRead UDF driver causes contention with the native Windows XP CD writing driver. This contention may be resolved by disabling the InstantWrite file system for the CD writer by following these steps:
- Open My Computer from either your Start Menu or desktop icon.
- Right-click the default CD-RW drive and select Properties.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Uncheck the IW file system active check-box.
- Click the OK button to close the Window and close My Computer.
- It is recommended that you reboot the machine for your settings to take effect.
2. Why won't the Unpacker run on my Windows ME machine?
The Unpacker tool is not supported for Windows ME. Supported operating systems are Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

CD and/or DVD Playback
1. Why doesn’t my computer see the CD/DVD created by the DVR-MD System?
ISM DVR-MD DVD's require UDF support on your machine to recognize the disc. While most machines with a DVD player have this support, sometimes a UDF Reader must be installed. To install a UDF Reader, visit our support site, www.imagestreammedical.com/support and download the UDF reader available there or use our MVP Diagnostic Tool.
2. Why can’t I play a video clip from the CD or DVD?
MPEG-2 video requires a software decoder. To install an MPEG-2 decoder, visit our support site, www.imagestreammedical.com/support and download the MPEG-2 decoder available there or use our MVP Diagnostic Tool.
